5th Grade Linoleum Block Prints and Character Busts

In January the 5th Graders studied the artwork of American painter, John Marin. The students chose
a famous piece of architecture or a monument, from Germantown Academy’s Campus, to use as
their subject. We spoke about positive and negative space in relation to printmaking and to art in general. The students’ drawings were transferred to Linoleum blocks, which were then carved and inked for printing.

Finishing Clay Character Busts- The 5th graders were thrilled to paint and finish their clay character busts in February. They used watercolor and a bit of acrylic paint for their final touches. The busts were then sprayed with a protective clear coating. Please come and see them
